Project - Hill Farm Tintern
Tom & Hayley had a fresh design for their site and were looking to add the option for direct accommodation booking. As their sister site Forest Retreats was already generating boosted sales and enquiries after I rebuilt it in 2022, they had no hesitation in asking me to carry out the website refresh for Hill Farm Tintern.
I suggested that the new version of the site could give a better representation the broad range of experiences offered at Hill Farm, which not only includes staying in one of their luxury yurts or Room With a View, but also use of their eco-spa, holistic treatments, yoga classes, locally sourced BBQ packs and retreats that are hosted on the land.
I worked with Tom & Hayley to curate the experience that we wanted the user to have when visiting the website, prioritising easy access to information site visitors may be looking for as well as meeting the businesses goals for the website – promoting Hill Farm as a destination for holidays and retreats and facilitating accommodation booking.
I then planned the site structure and user experience based on the outcomes of our session, making sure the relevant options and information we’re easily available to the website visitor regardless of their current place in the purchasing cycle. This included a sitemap of proposed pages, navigation and page wireframing.
I set up an accommodation booking service on the site, increasing the business’ revenue by avoiding 3rd party booking fees and setting up incentives to book directly. This system also centralised the calendars making it easier to manage 3rd party bookings and blocked dates from one place.
I set up an area in the WordPress dashboard where Hayley & Tom could list all of the extras that are bookable by their accommodation guests. This not only informs guests of the extras available, but also gives extra overall value to their service.
Hill Farm also offer the hire of the land and facilities to groups or businesses who’d like to host their retreat or gathering there. Working with Tom & Hayley we put together a page of information and a contact form, which has generated over 40 leads in 8 months since launch.
I had already set up a bespoke retreat calendar on their sister company Forest Retreats’ website so I used the WordPress REST API to pull that data to the Hill Farm site. This way the calendar only needs to be managed in one place but is output on both sites automatically.
Giving extra value to website visitors as well as boosting SEO, this page also helps to support other local businesses at the same time as making a stay at Hill Farm more attractive.
